One of the most common questions I hear from seniors and parents is:

"What should I wear for my senior portraits?"

The good news is that there isn't one right answer.

The best senior portraits happen when your outfits reflect your personality, style, and interests. Your senior portraits should feel like you, not like you're wearing a costume or trying to be someone you're not.

That said, there are a few guidelines that can help you choose outfits you'll love not only today, but years from now when you're looking back at these images.

First Things First: Bring Variety

Most of my seniors wear 2-3 outfits during their session, which allows us to create a gallery with lots of variety.

I typically recommend:

• One outfit that's a little dressier

• One casual everyday outfit

• One outfit that showcases a hobby, sport, activity, or interest

This combination creates a well-rounded gallery that captures different sides of your personality.

Tips for Girls

Choose Outfits That Make You Feel Confident

The most important thing is wearing something that makes you feel comfortable and confident.

If you're constantly adjusting a dress, pulling at straps, or worrying about how something fits, it will show in your expressions.

Choose outfits that fit well and allow you to move comfortably.

Solid Colors Photograph Beautifully

While patterns can work, solid colors often photograph best because they keep the focus on you.

Some favorite choices include:

• Soft blues

• Sage green

• Burgundy

• Creams and neutrals

• Dusty pink

• Navy

Bright neon colors can sometimes create unwanted color casts on your skin, so they're usually best avoided.

The Gulf Coast breeze can become your best friend when you're wearing something with a little flow.
